Learning Designed with Purpose

At Chapters International, learning design goes beyond creating content. It starts with understanding the learner, the performance need and the outcome the learning experience needs to achieve. With more than 13 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development and professional learning, I design learning solutions that bring together sound learning principles, thoughtful structure and practical application. My work spans corporate learning, leadership development, professional education, blended learning, eLearning and facilitated workshops — from initial learning strategy and curriculum architecture through to the development of complete learner and facilitator resources. The projects below represent a selection of this work and demonstrate not only what was created, but the thinking and instructional design behind each solution.

Case Study: Leadership Development Programme Case Study

Building practical leadership capability through structured, workplace-focused learning.

A multi-level corporate leadership development programme designed to support employees as they progress from emerging leaders into increasingly complex people-management roles. The programme combines facilitated learning, workplace application, reflection and practical tools to help participants translate leadership concepts into everyday behaviours.

Case Study: Personal Effectiveness

Helping managers work with greater focus, organisation and intention.

A practical learning experience developed for mid-level managers as part of a broader leadership development journey. The programme explores time management, prioritisation, personal organisation and digital working practices, translating familiar productivity concepts into practical systems participants can apply immediately in their working environment. The learning experience combines concise theory, facilitated discussion, self-reflection and practical exercises.

Case Study: Project Management in Interior Design

Making a complex professional process easier to understand and apply.

A comprehensive professional learning programme designed to help interior designers understand and manage the complete project lifecycle — from initial client briefing and programming through design development, documentation, execution, installation and project close-out. Complex project-management concepts were translated into a visual, structured and industry-specific learning journey supported by practical templates, checklists, examples and applied activities.

Case Study: Colour Theory in Interior Design

Turning visual design theory into practical decision-making skills.

A structured learning programme developed to help learners move beyond simply recognising colour concepts to confidently applying colour theory within real interior spaces. The learning journey progresses from terminology and colour fundamentals through colour schemes, ratios, warm and cool colours, colour psychology and the creation of complete interior colour solutions. Visual explanation, practical application and client-focused design language are integrated throughout the programme.

Behind the Design

The thinking behind the learning matters.

A finished course, workbook or presentation only shows part of the instructional design process.

Behind every effective learning experience is a series of decisions about what learners need to know, what they need to be able to do, how information should be structured and how learning can be transferred into real-world performance.

Our design process typically moves through:

Learning Need → Learner Analysis → Outcomes → Curriculum Architecture → Learning Experience → Development → Implementation → Evaluation

Depending on the project, this may include stakeholder consultation, SME collaboration, learning-outcome development, curriculum mapping, content analysis, storyboarding, activity design, assessment strategy, facilitator resources, learner materials, LMS implementation and evaluation.

The objective remains the same:

Create learning that is clear, purposeful, relevant and usable.
